Enter the original price along with the discount percentage to evaluate markdowns before completing a purchase or updating a retail price tag. If an input is left blank, the tool defaults each field to zero. Any negative starting price is automatically adjusted to zero before the calculation proceeds. Similarly, negative discount percentages adjust up to zero percent, while discount rates above one hundred percent are capped at one hundred percent. The tool computes the total savings by multiplying the adjusted original price by the adjusted discount rate, rounding the resulting savings to two decimal places. It then subtracts that savings amount from the adjusted price to produce the final price, also rounded to two decimal places.
