How to interpret the returned details

Begin with the reported IP version, then read the classifications as descriptions assigned to the supplied address. A private or loopback label explains the category returned for that value; it does not identify which device uses the address or provide a separate device detail. The same boundary applies to the other classifications shown by the tool.

The normalized representation gives you a consistent form to read or copy. Hexadecimal and binary fields provide alternate representations, while the four octets divide an IPv4 address into numeric parts. For IPv6, N/A in the binary field is the returned output shape, so there is no binary string in that field to decode.

The reverse-DNS pointer is presented alongside the other representations of the parsed address. Treat it as returned address information, not as proof that a hostname exists or that a DNS query was performed. An invalid result has a different shape: it is marked as successful, contains an invalid-address error message, and omits parsed address details.

What happens if I do not enter an IP address?
