Text Stats analyzes your written copy and calculates structural metrics, readability measurements, and pacing estimates. Paste or type any draft into the text field to inspect total words, raw characters, and character counts excluding spaces, tabs, and line breaks. The tool also tallies lines, paragraphs separated by double line breaks, and sentences marked by runs of periods, question marks, or exclamation marks. In addition to base counts, the breakdown provides average word length and average words per sentence rounded to one decimal place. When your input contains more than ten words and at least one sentence, a whole-number readability score between 0 and 100 is assigned along with a readability category. Shorter text segments receive a category with a baseline score of zero. Reading and speaking times are calculated in whole minutes, defaulting to a one-minute minimum for any text with at least one word. If you leave the text area empty or enter only spaces, the counts show zero.

How does the tool count sentences and paragraphs?
Sentences are identified by punctuation runs of periods, question marks, and exclamation marks. Paragraphs are detected by double line breaks separating blocks of text.
Why is the readability score zero for short text?
Readability calculations require sufficient text to be meaningful. For text with ten or fewer words, the tool deliberately assigns a score of zero while still showing a descriptive category.
How are reading and speaking times calculated?
Estimates are rounded to whole minutes, using a minimum of one minute whenever at least one word is detected.
What happens when submitting an empty field?
Empty or whitespace-only inputs result in zero for all count metrics and time estimates, with readability marked as unavailable.
