It also provides estimated reading and speaking durations, which helps when preparing drafts, video scripts, presentation notes, essays, or social media captions. The reading time estimate assumes an average speed of 200 words per minute, while the speaking time estimate assumes 130 words per minute, with both durations rounded to the nearest whole minute. Sentence counts recognize standard punctuation marks such as periods, question marks, and exclamation points. Paragraphs are detected using line breaks. If the input is left empty or consists solely of whitespace characters, all reported metrics and time estimates display zero.

What does the Word Counter measure?
It reports words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, and lines, along with estimated reading and speaking times.
What is excluded from the character count without spaces?
That count removes ordinary spaces, line breaks, and tab characters from the original text.
How are sentences identified?
A period, exclamation mark, or question mark is treated as a sentence ending; consecutive marks are treated together. Text with words but none of those marks is counted as one sentence.
Are the reading and speaking times exact?
No. They are estimates based on 200 words per minute for reading and 130 words per minute for speaking, rounded to whole minutes.
What happens if the text field is empty?
Empty text or text containing only whitespace returns zero for every count and time estimate.
