This online solar calculator estimates daily sunrise, sunset, and solar noon times for any coordinate pair on Earth. Enter your geographic latitude and longitude in decimal degrees alongside a target date to calculate solar transit times based on standard NOAA sunrise equations. The tool outputs all event times in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), rounded to the nearest minute, making it straightforward to compare daylight patterns across different global regions.
In addition to rise and set events, the calculation provides both formatted and numeric day lengths rounded to two decimal places, as well as directional indicators for northern, southern, eastern, and western hemispheres. If you omit coordinates or dates, the interface applies default coordinates for New York City and uses today's current UTC calendar date. For extreme high-latitude locations during polar day or polar night, the calculator identifies the polar condition and indicates that standard sunrise and sunset transitions are unavailable.

What time standard is used for sunrise and sunset results?
All calculated sunrise, sunset, and solar noon times are displayed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). To find local standard or daylight saving time, convert the UTC result to your local time zone offset.
Why does the tool report a polar condition instead of event times?
In polar regions near the Arctic or Antarctic circles during midsummer or midwinter, the sun may remain continuously above the horizon (polar day) or below it (polar night). In these circumstances, standard sunrise and sunset events do not occur.
What formula does the calculator use to estimate solar events?
The calculation applies the standard NOAA sunrise equation model, estimating atmospheric refraction and solar declination for the specified date and coordinate position.
What happens if I leave the input fields empty?
When fields are left empty, the tool automatically uses default coordinates of 40.7128 latitude and -74.0060 longitude alongside the current UTC date.
