Math & Numbers

Statistics Calculator

Compute mean, median, mode, standard deviation, variance, range, and quartiles from comma-separated numbers.

Run tool

This online statistics calculator computes a complete summary of descriptive metrics from a list of numbers. When you enter at least two numerical values separated by commas, the result panel displays standard summary metrics. It shows central tendency measures including the mean, median, and all tied mode values. It also shows data spread through the range, sample variance, sample standard deviation, population variance, and population standard deviation. In addition, the result panel shows positional statistics including the minimum, maximum, first quartile, third quartile, and interquartile range using position interpolation. Output metrics such as the mean, median, range, variances, standard deviations, quartiles, and interquartile range are rounded to ten decimal places, while the minimum and maximum values remain exact. If you enter nonnumeric text or fewer than two values, the result panel displays an alert asking you to provide valid data.

Instructions

  1. Enter or paste your numbers into the input area separated by commas.
  2. Include positive numbers, negative values, or decimals as needed for your dataset.
  3. Ensure your list contains at least two numeric values.
  4. Click the calculate button. The result panel then shows the descriptive statistics summary.

Examples

  • Enter 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 to find the count (5), sum (150), mean (30), median (30), range (40), sample standard deviation (15.8113883008), first quartile (20), and third quartile (40).
  • Enter -4, -2, 0, 2, 4, 4 to process negative values and duplicates, returning a mode of 4, minimum of -4, maximum of 4, and interquartile range of 4.5.

FAQ

How many numbers do I need to provide?

You need to enter at least two numbers separated by commas. After you click Run, the result panel shows the descriptive statistics.

How are tied mode values handled?

If multiple values share the highest frequency across your dataset, the result panel lists every tied value.

Does the tool calculate sample or population metrics?

After you enter numbers and click Run, the result panel shows both sample variance and sample standard deviation as well as population variance and population standard deviation.

Can I include negative numbers or decimal values?

Yes, you can include positive values, negative values, zeros, and decimal numbers.
